Foot Locker scholarship program requries (2) great recommendations

One of the requirements of the Foot Locker scholarship for athletes program is that you list two individuals that can give you a good recommendation. It is important to select people that can offer the committee a very good insight about who you are. Make sure you have all of their contact details and that you have their permission for them to be contacted. You don’t want them to be caught off guard.

One of the recommendations needs to be a school teacher or administrator. He or she needs to have knowledge about your character. They also need to be able to provide examples about how you have been a leader with your peers. The second recommendation needs to be a coach, teammate, or community member that can describe how you offer great character both in the game and away from it.

Foot Locker scholarship program criteria

All applicants must be involved with some type of high school athletes program or a community athletics program at the time of application. The GPA must be 3.0 or higher. Applicants must be planning on attending an accredited four year college the following year. Applicants must be an citizen of the USA and be able to show documentation if they are a winner of the Foot Locker scholarship funds.

Applications for the Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program can be turned in from September 20th through January 9th of the following year. No late applications will be considered. There will be 20 winners selected and each of them will receive $20,000 that will be paid directly to the four year college that they have been accepted to. This college must be accredited for the funds to be released to them.

The funds offered will be disbursed in amounts of $5,000 per year over the course of those four years. Students must remain enrolled full time and with a GPA of 2.75 or higher for the next disbursement to be completed. Students also have to remain in good standing with the college in terms of behavior as well.

Nominate someone for the Foot Locker scholarship program

What is also unique about this particular scholarship is that you can nominate someone for it. They don’t have to apply directly for it to win one of the cash prizes. Each year, friends, family, coaches, and teachers have nominated various students that fit the criteria. You can imagine the excitement and the gratitude that materializes when a student finds out they have won $20,000 for college – and they didn’t even apply for it!

There is no limit to the number of people that an individual can nominate. Many coaches have several top athletes that fit the criteria, and they submit an application for all of them Foot Locker welcomes that type of effort for athletes and has no limits about how many people an individual is able to nominate.

There are many different athletic scholarships that a person can apply for or that someone else can apply for on their behalf. Students and those that nominate can apply for as many scholarships as they wish. However, an applicant can only be awarded one of these scholarships from Foot Locker.

Individuals that pass the first round of evaluations of their application will be scheduled for an interview online via Skype. These interviews will be conducted to get a better understanding of the athlete, their contribution to the sport and to their community, and to find out about their future plans.

The Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program has a great deal of money to offer. This can be one of the great athletic scholarships you are awarded in your quest to reduce the out of pocket amount of money you have to pay for college. Reducing your own expenses can give you peace of mind. It can also help you to be very excited about the journey you are about to embark on in college.

Try to set up appointments with such coaches at various colleges too. This gives you the chance to interact with them on a personal level. See if you can be around for a practice session too. This gives you the opportunity to meet players on the team, to observe team moral, and to see those particular coaches in action.

Track and Field Scholarships

track and field scholarships
Track and Field Scholarships

Track and field scholarships for athletics may be hard to come by, even if you are a student applying through the National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA). There are, however, a number of programs available for students from regional and local organizations if they know where to look. This is true as well with regards to a couple national organizations. All in all, Track and Field has a decent amount of financial aid support for students who show a strong dedication to the field and are interested in pursuing the sport at the collegiate level.

National Track and Field Scholarships

Students interested in getting access to track and field scholarships for college should consider looking at national organizations, but especially at the local or regional groups through which high school students generally compete. Organizations such as USA Track and Field, which has local chapters in a lot of areas, are a great place for students to start their track and field scholarship for athletics search.

Some national organizations, such as VIS for students in Australia, are interested in funding education for student athletes. The VIS program gives out athlete scholarship money to not only aid them in their overall education but be able to afford attending the Victorian Institute of Sport from which many Olympic athletes in Australia have emerged. Students interested in the VIS program will need to be Australian citizens and be members of Athletics Victoria. All applicants will be expected to be eligible for competing at the national level. Application materials must be turned in no later than October 15.

Track and Field Scholarships from Colleges

After finding what they need through these groups, students still in need of financial aid should consider looking through the colleges they plan to attend. A number of colleges in the United States fund track and field scholarships of their own. Those students who are in dire need of financial aid may even want to consider limited their options of school to those which provide additional financial aid for college athletes participating in track and field.

Regional Track and Field Scholarships for College

A regional organization supporting track and field scholarships comes from the State of Delaware Government which provides support for various athletic programs. NCSA Scholarships for Athletics

NCSA scholarships for athletics are not quite what most students may think they are. Known as the National Collegiate Scouting Association scholarships start…

ncsa scholarships
NCSA Scholarships

NCSA scholarships for athletics are not quite what most students may think they are. Known formally as the National Collegiate Scouting Association, the NCSA does not necessarily provide scholarships directly themselves as much as they connect students to programs which may provide financial assistance for participating in their athletic programs. As a result, NCSA athletic scholarships are a bit of a misnomer, but none the less in many ways an accurate description of what the organization does.

NCSA Scouts and Recruits First then Athletic Scholarships Follow

Students should understand that first and foremost the group is not a sport scholarship providing foundation or organization – rather the NCSA is a scouting and recruiting company. In this day and age with college athletics having become so popular, many colleges no longer pay for their coaches to recruit directly.

Even more so, there are some fields which lack NCAA funding to such a degree that coaches cannot even afford to locate or recruit top athletes in some categories. To perform the service of scouting for these programs, the NCSA is kept abreast of athletic scholarship opportunities and makes it their business to find the best college athletes in the country with whom they can connect to some of the top athletic programs in return.

Some students will sometimes ask why they need to go through a college athletic recruiting organization such as the NCSA. Simply put, in many cases students may simply have to. As authors who are trying to get published need an agent who knows the business and the publishers involved, so too do college aged athletes who want access to the NCSA scholarship opportunities. The organization can connect them with need to have a formal recruiter.

Back in the day, and largely for the biggest sports, this was accomplished by college coaches going out and finding student athletes who would help make their program shine. Unfortunately, there are more programs for student athletes than there is funding to help find the talent, and that is where groups like the NCSA really shine.

Looking through various colleges, students should be able to tell that athletic scholarships do exist for sports teams as obscure as bowling, or as common as tennis. In many ways, these programs are all NCSA scholarships because it is the NCSA which will connect the student to the coach and thus to the financial aid.

The NCSA has spent years building up relationships with coaches, formal collegiate athletic associations, and various colleges. They are able to leverage their networks in order to find you athletes a home at a college with a good program and financial assistance to boot.

Students who join the NCSA network create a profile which more or less tracks their achievements and statistics, giving out access to coaches and recruiters looking to get some new talent on their team.

In the modern age of information, NCSA scholarship opportunities can go quickly, and the group reports that students in grade 8 and 9 who have opened their profile early are sometimes approached by interested coaches.

In order to get the best chance at receiving a sports scholarship from the NCSA, students should follow their check list very closely. Student athletes should get themselves formally evaluated with regards to their athletic ability. After that creating their recruitment page through the NCSA which displays their stats and active fields of participation will help give college coaches something to look at.

The organization also suggests that students make a video which talks about their achievements and then start contacting college coaches immediately. As coaches respond to messages, students should start replying and building up a relationship, sending out updates regarding their athletic progress, any new achievements or in general highlighting things they have done recently.

Overall, the goal is to make sure a prospective college athlete is active in their sport, and building up their relationships with coaches at schools they are interested in attending. In some cases this will be enough to get a student into a NCSA scholarship opportunity.

Wrestling Scholarships for Athletics

Wrestling scholarships for Athletics are available from a variety of sources, but compared to some other athletic programs are not as common.

wrestling scholarships
Wrestling Scholarships

Wrestling scholarships for Athletics are available from a variety of sources, but compared to some other athletic programs are not as common. Despite this, students will have some options nationally from groups like the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Other options exist and are much more common at the local and regional levels. NCAA scholarships, while certainly an option, is relatively limited at the college level and there is not a single college in the United States which can field an entire team through their programs. As a result, students interested in wrestling scholarships will be well advised to seek out financial assistance from other sources.

How to get a Wrestling Scholarship

As mentioned above looking for wrestling scholarships at local and regional organizations is an excellent first step – any organization in which a student wrestler is active in with regards to their sport may be a good source of potential financial aid. After that, students should consider the college they are considering attending. Because colleges have difficulty funding an entire wrestling team through NCAA funds, it is not at all uncommon for schools to provide additional financial assistance in the form of wrestling scholarships to attract additional students. If none of these routes have worked for interested students, then the next step is to apply for more broad athletic scholarships to fill the gap remaining for their financial need.

Look towards other Athletic Scholarships for Wrestling

There are not many national scholarships for wrestling outside of the NCAA, but the Shut Up and Sweat Athletic Gear company gives out awards every year to promising athletes graduating from high school. This program awards up to three different athletic scholarships to students of $2,000. In order to be eligible for the Shut Up and Sweat awards students will need to have at least a 3.0 grade point average, have a strong history in high school athletics, and be involved in community service projects. All applications should be turned in no later than August 1 and the program is only available to students who have graduated as senior the same year as the due date.

Local and Regional Organizations for Wrestling Scholarships

Regional and local organizations are some of the best sources of wrestling scholarships. Looking at District 6 Wrestling, an organization which covers the Huntingdon, Mount Union, Penns valley, State College and Tyrone areas, several wrestling scholarships are awarded every year. In 2011 at least two different $1,000 wrestling scholarships were awarded through the PWCA and another four $250 awards were given out. Students who would like to apply to these wrestling scholarships will need to have at least a 2.0 grade point average, and are graduating seniors planning to attend a four year university. All application materials must be turned in by March 31 of every year to be considered.

Club Scholarships for Wrestling

The Coon Rapids Wrestling Club of Minneapolis provides several athletic scholarships for wrestling every year for students in the local area. These awards are given out at two different levels – the Gold and Silver Scholarships. Gold award winners will receive up to $6,000 in scholarship funding over four year or $1,500 per year while attending college. Silver award winners will get a single $1,500 wrestling scholarship. In order to be eligible for this program, students will need to be wrestling in college, be graduating from Coon Rapids High School, have a long history in the local program, have attended at least two summer camps with the group, and have attended the Fargo National tournament once during their 9-11 grade years. Decisions regarding wrestling scholarships are decided before a student graduates from high school during their senior year.

Another great local wrestling scholarship for athletes comes from the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation which gives out a varying number of awards every year to winning students. Applicants will need to be nominated by their high school coach while showing strong personal character, academic history, and community involvement. The deadline for this program is set locally by high schools which participate and students interested should talk to their high school counselor.

NAIA Scholarships

NAIA scholarships are a great way to get athletic scholarships for both Division I and Division II. NAIA stands for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. NAIA headquarters are located in Kansas City and it was founded in 1937. The goal was to ensure that sports could continue to be a big part of college life.

At the same time, the program was designed to ensure those involved with athletics would have the opportunity to get a good education. In 1970, NAIA was divided into two divisions, I and II, so that the distribution of the funds would be easier for processing. However, in 1997 the funds were once again consolidated into one single division.

There aren’t as many membership schools as for other sports scholarships so they can help with the expansion of spreading them out among the athletes that will be attending these schools.

The teams at the schools that accept NAIA scholarships for athletics are smaller so there will be fewer members on the team. There are approximately 300 colleges and universities out there in both the USA and Canada that accept them. There are NAIA athletic scholarships for both men and women.

NAIA Scholarship for Athletic Protocol

It is important to understand that NAIA scholarships for athletics very seldom offer a full ride. They do offer numerous partial sports scholarships though that can significantly reduce the amount of money that any athlete wishing to attend college has to pay out of their own pocket. It is important for them to be able to have funds available to pay for college.

When a student is involved in athletics and academics, it can be very hard for them to work at the same time. Even if they are doing work study or have a part time job, the commitment of time is too much. They aren’t able to fully focus on their studies, athletic practice, game schedules, or their overall well being.

With the availability of NAIA scholarships though, it is very possible that they will be able to get the funds they need for school. Those funds, combined with other scholarship funds can reduce the amount of out of pocket they have to come up with. It can also reduce their dependency on student loans to get through their college curriculum successfully.

All recipients of NAIA athletic scholarships must be enrolled at least 12 credit hours at an accredited college. They also need to be playing on a team. Students are encouraged to contact the athletic department at their school to find it if there is funding through NAIA for that particular sport. What many people don’t know is that the schools get to decide if the NAIA sports scholarships offered will be used for which sports at their school.

Students that receive an NAIA scholarship have to remain in compliance. They must show up for practices and games as outlined by their coach. They must show good sportsmanship both on and off the playing time. They also have to comply with any drug testing regulations, and pass such testing successfully.

Students that receive NAIA scholarships for athletics also have to comply with their academic progress. They must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher. They also have to maintain being enrolled in 12 credit hours or more throughout the college program or they can lose their scholarship. Renewals are very common with this type of athletic scholarship, but not if a student isn’t doing well in their sport or academics.
